Roger Kehler
Since the age of five, Roger began singing and showing interest in almost
anything musically related. His mother knew that music would play an
important part of his life.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska in 1968, Roger was the youngest of three. He
began taking piano lessons at the age of eight but soon found that playing
by ear was far more exciting. He soon moved on to the violin, trombone,
baritone, and trumpet. His house was never again quite at peace. In the
end, the trumpet and piano won out as his favorite instruments.
Graduating from high school in 1986, Roger began pursuing a teaching degree
in music from Bellevue Community College. Taking time off from college, he
began to settle down to the piano and purchased his first keyboard in 1991.
He attended jam sessions around the area, trying to find a style of music
that would fit him best. A friend introduced him to country and it has been
downhill ever since.
Roger joined his first band in 1995 and began opening up for national
artists like Clay Walker, The Oak Ridge Boys and Lee Ann Rimes.
After four years of numerous gigs, he decided to start spending more time
with his family. His wife Lori, and his three children Kelsey, Nathan and
Nolan have been very supportive. They allow him to do what he truly loves
to do.
After some time away, Roger felt that he had to get back in the music scene
again. He performed with Latigo Lace for 2 years, took a short break and is
currently playing keyboards in Joe Slicks band. After one year now, this
band has truly offered more than can be expected in a country band and he's
proud to be a member. He looks forward to the years ahead.
